My youngest daughter got her first street ride in August 1998 on the 650 twin.
It was only a 2 mile ride to the local Harley dealer to check out the new Twincam 88, she enjoyed the ride enough to want to ride home as soon as we got there.
Riding the 650 is fun
My friend Greg L. (left) was all smiles while riding the twin and so was Ron W. (right)
They have both passed away and I am glad they got some saddle time on the twin.

Minton's Building a Better Twin Article
Mike Thomas de-stroked an XS650 to ~530cc to compete in the AMA 500cc class.
He also built a XS650 punched out to 800cc and Jeff Thomas gets to ride 'em.

Hey Mike and Jeff...The Only Way is Up!
Uncle Johnny Zelna's excellent 650 chopper.
Notice the engine treatment and forward controls.
Uncle Johnny passed away a few years ago and his bike was parted out!
I added another disc brake to the left fork.
This produced a remarkable improvement in braking.
I also installed one of Tkat's front fork braces.
These upgrades contribute to the bikes sporty nature.
There is a link to a primer on the installation of a second disc below.
